What is it?
Created by alumnae Antonella Pomara and Sheryl Shapiro, the Blind Brook Soup Kitchen is a program that has been providing weekly hot meals to Westchester's homeless and hungry since 1998. The Soup Kitchen serves up to 150 free hot meals per week to those in need. We cannot do it without your help.
When is it?
The Soup Kitchen at St. Peter's Church provides meals five days a week hosted by different high schools or community groups. Blind Brook High School is responsible for THURSDAYS, while school is in session. We begin at 4:15 PM and finish at 6:15 PM.
Where is St. Peter's
19 Smith St, Port Chester, NY 10573
Can I JUST SHOW UP?
NO! As this program is very popular, we must be strict to prevent overcrowding. You MUST sign up in order to be eligible to go. We get an overwhelming number of responses for students who would like to work at the Soup Kitchen in the early fall. Volunteers will be asked to work on a rotating basis. Do not get discouraged if you would like to make the Soup Kitchen your community service commitment but are not being asked to work each week. A core group of committed students will develop over the course of the year and will be asked to work more consistently.
Attendance is limited to Blind Brook High School Students.
